A South Dakota sheriff said his deputies won't be wearing masks because they have "freedom of choice."

South Dakota Sheriff Kevin Thom said his deputies won't be wearing masks at President Trump's July 4th event at Mount Rushmore, because they have "freedom of choice."

"Masks are optional for our deputies. Generally, they won't be wearing them. ... We believe in our independent nature here, our freedom of choice. If they want to wear a mask they can. If they don't want to, they don't have to."

Is that the same way for seat belts? They have a choice? So out of respect for the citizens that they are supposed to "protect and serve" they feel no compulsion to honor that committment by setting and example through leadership. Sad
