Robert Hyde Didn’t Learn Much After His Obscene Tweet About Kamala Harris

HYDE for U.S. Congress/Twitter

“You sound a little horny. Skip dinner and straight to the jacuzzi?” Robert Hyde wrote to a woman on Twitter this week.

Staunch Trump supporter and Republican congressional candidate Robert F. Hyde reemerged from obscurity this week after documents produced by Lev Parnas appeared to implicate him in the alleged surveillance of a U.S. ambassador.

But Hyde found himself making headlines once before — when he tweeted an obscene remark about Senator Kamala Harris (D-CA) dropping out of the presidential race.

Now, it appears that the Connecticut GOPer learned next to nothing from his prior experience, replying to a female Twitter user on Thursday: “You sound a little horny. Skip dinner and straight to the jacuzzi?”

She retweeted Hyde’s comment — which she said struck her as a possible solicitation for sex, tagging the FBI in her post.

Responses to Hyde’s tweet ranged from disgust — “You’re super sleazy,” one user wrote — to the suggestion that the candidate is perfectly suited for today’s Republican Party.

Hyde has come under increased scrutiny after the Parnas document dump suggested he was somehow involved in tracking the movements of former U.S. Ambassador to Ukraine Marie Yovanovitch.

In messages exchanged on WhatsApp, Hyde — a former Marine — indicated to Parnas that he had associates monitoring Yovanovitch in Ukraine.

“They know she’s a political puppet,” Hyde wrote. “They will let me know when she’s on the move… They are willing to help if you/we would like a price.”

“Guess you can do anything in Ukraine with money… what I was told,” Hyde said in another message.

Hyde appeared to authenticate the messages as written by none other than himself in a Facebook post after the documents went public.

“How low can liddle Adam Bull Schiff go?” he wrote. “I was never in Kiev. For them to take some texts my buddy’s and I wrote back to some dweeb we were playing with that we met a few times while we had a few drinks is definitely laughable. Schiff is a desperate turd playing with this Lev guy. Have fun with your witch-hunt liddle Schiff.”

Mother Jones reported that the recently-released documents are not the only curious elements of Hyde’s past.

The 40-year-old reportedly was picked up by police at Trump National Doral Miami last year following the report of a “male in distress fearing for his life.” The incident resulted in Hyde’s involuntary assessment at a local medical hospital.

Per the police report, Hyde explained to officers that “he was in fear for his life, was set up and that a hit man was out to get him. Mr. Hyde spoke about e-mails he sent that may have placed his life in jeopardy. Mr. Hyde explained several times that he was paranoid that someone was out to get him.”

After his assessment, Hyde posted to social media that he had been held in a facility for nine days, where his “mental, emotional, and physical self” were “pushed” and he passed “all medicals, physicals, psych exams and diagnoses with flying colors.”

The Daily Beast also reported that while Hyde had plenty of money to donate to President Donald Trump’s campaign, as well as the Republican National Committee, as of November he was behind in his child support payments.

The Hartford Courant reported that Hyde has made $56,000 in political contributions since 2016.

"He can't even afford $100 a week in child support but he's golfing with Trump," said Jennyfer Morin, the mother of Hyde’s son, according to the Courant.

Per The Daily Beast: “As news of Hyde’s involvement in the Ukraine scandal broke Tuesday, he was tweeting about his child support and claiming that he wasn’t a “deadbeat.” Hyde later deleted the tweets.”
