Republicans Received Millions In Donations As They Pushed Trump’s Tax Cut

Wealthy Republican donors appear to have "thanked" GOP lawmakers for tax cuts by way of increased contributions.

Within the two months from the introduction of the GOP tax cut bill in November 2017 to the end of its waiting period, major donors contributed a total of $31.1 million to Republican causes. According to MotherJones, these donations are a dramatic increase from months prior.

Millionaire donors popular among GOP politicians such as the Koch brothers and Doug Deason had been withholding contributions in order to secure a bill that would grant them tax cuts.

The timing of the donations provides “a solid block of evidence that points to some very grateful people rewarding their champions.”

These actions demonstrate a practice among political donors in which they use their contributions to politicians to leverage their legislative demands.
