Republicans Are Advising Brett Kavanaugh To Sue His Accusers

Some conservatives have suggested that Brett Kavanaugh sue the women who accused him of sexual misconduct.

Along with the typical gloating that might accompany a Supreme Court win, some in conservative circles are suggesting that Brett Kavanaugh — was accused by three women of sexual misconduct — should sue those accuser, and potentially the media outlets that reported their claims.

From The Cut:

> What’s less standard, and seems to be vindictive, is the call from lawyers across multiple conservative outlets for Brett Kavanaugh to sue his accusers for libel. One such lawyer wrote that Kavanaugh should sue Christine Blasey Ford and the WashingtonPost for $20 million each.

> Another lawyer, L. Lin Wood, told Fox News that he believes Kavanaugh should sue not only Ford, Deborah Ramirez, and Julie Swetnick, but also news outlets that published the allegations.

> “The message should be sent. People know there needs to be accountability,” Wood said. “I think he has actionable cases [for libel]. I would recommend to him that they have merit.”

President Trump also indicated the women should face some type of consequences for “making up stories”:

> “I think that they should be held liable. You can’t go around and whether it’s making up stories or making false statements about such an important position, you can’t do that,” Trump said to Fox News’ Jeanine Pirro. “You can destroy somebody’s life.”

He will never do this for the same reason why Trump never does it...even though he likes to make the threat. If Dr. Ford has to defend herself against a libel suit she gets to put on all the witnesses that were not heard from by the Senate Panel or that contacted the FBI on her behalf in the weeklong investigation, but whom they weren't allowed to interview. In other words, there would be more of a crowd to contend with. His statements about his drinking and partying would ABSOLUTELY be at issue and would be explored quite a bit further than they were by the Senate in the hearing. He would be shut down quick for putting on a tantrum, trying to ask witnesses or the judge or jury members questions. No actual courtroom (funny) would ever put up with the antics he put on display in the Senate. We could also find out if he was willing to take a lie detector test as it would almost certainly be offered in settlement negotiations and he would almost certainly refuse.....again. Lindsey Graham said Kavanaugh was "no Bill Cosby". All he has to do is sue Dr. Ford and maybe we get to find out whether or not that is true. If he wants that, he should take up that suggestion. I hope he does.
