As EPA Director, Scott Pruitt has shown utter contempt for both law and science.

Hinting at further changes to his administration, President Donald Trump told reporters Tuesday that he is "getting very close to having the Cabinet and other things that I want", and it appears part of his strategy might be swapping out Attorney General Jeff Sessions for EPA Administrator Scott Pruitt.

Two Republicans who told Vanity Fair they maintain regular contact with the White House said there have been talks that Trump could replace Sessions with Pruitt, currently serving as EPA administrator. The story notes Pruitt would likely not have to recuse from overseeing the probe into Russian meddling during the 2016 election, as Sessions has.

Should the president decide to replace Sessions, it will come as no real shock -- Trump has criticized Sessions repeatedly throughout his first year in office, apparently angered by Sessions's decision to recuse himself from the Russia investigation, among other issues.
