Report: Trump Hires Pam Bondi For His Impeachment Defense Team
President Donald Trump is reportedly bringing former Florida Attorney General Pam Bondi onboard to assist with matters related to impeachment, according to The Daily Beast.
Bondi, along with former Treasury Department spokesman Tony Sayegh, are expected to take temporary leave from their firms to join the White House.
The news, initially reported by The Wall Street Journal, brings Bondi’s relationship with Trump back into the spotlight. Suggestions of a possible quid pro quo between the two surfaced in 2013, after Trump’s $25,000 donation to a political action committee supporting Bondi’s re-election campaign appeared to make some of his legal trouble disappear.
Trump's donation was made just four days after Bondi had announced that her office was looking into complaints of potential fraud surrounding Trump University. About a month after the contribution, Bondi’s office determined it would not take action.
