Report: Lt. Col. Vindman’s Twin Brother Was Also Escorted From The White House

Lt. Col. Alexander Vindman and his twin brother, Yevgeny, were dismissed and escorted from the White House on Friday.

Lt. Col. Alexander Vindman was escorted from the White House on Friday, with his twin brother in tow, in a move that was billed by Trump officials as a broader downsizing of National Security Council staff but widely viewed as retaliation for Vindman’s testimony against the president in the impeachment inquiry.

President Donald Trump was acquitted by the Senate just two days ago in a near party line vote, with one Republican senator joining every Democrat in voting to convict.

According to Bloomberg News, Trump was asked on Friday if he wanted Vindman to leave the NSC, to which the president responded: “Well, I’m not happy with him.”

David Pressman, the Army officer’s attorney, said, “Vindman was asked to leave for telling the truth. His honor, his commitment to right, frightened the powerful.”

Vindman’s twin brother, Yevgeny, also received the boot, dismissed from his position as a NSC ethics lawyer.

“Alexander Vindman was one of the Democrats’ most crucial witnesses in their impeachment proceedings -- a decorated Army lieutenant colonel, who raised the alarm over the president’s July 25 telephone call with Ukraine’s leader,” Bloomberg reported. The only account of Trump’s call prior to Vindman’s testimony came from the anonymous whistleblower, along with the rough transcript of the call released by the White House.

Other officials who testified in the impeachment inquiry are also likely to be reassigned, according to sources who spoke with the news outlet.

Vindman’s dismissal is likely to trigger objections from Democrats, and even some Republicans, particularly if Trump continues its retaliation against additional officials.

Doesn’t this fall under legal protection for retaliation? It seems that there should be protection for a person who testifies in any court case and tells the truth under oath, even if it reflects badly on their company or boss.
