Report: Jared And Ivanka To Represent The White House At International Forum
President Donald Trump has named his daughter and son-in-law to the U.S. delegation to the World Economic Forum in Davos, Switzerland, according to Politico.
Jared Kushner and Ivanka Trump, both advisers to the president, will join several Cabinet secretaries at the forum, including Treasury Secretary Steven Mnuchin, Commerce Secretary Wilbur Ross, Labor Secretary Eugene Scalia, Transportation Secretary Elaine Chao and Trade Representative Robert Lighthizer.
This will mark yet another occasion for critics to question the wisdom in involving the White House couple in financial and foreign policy, Politico noted — particularly following a previous international appearance by Ivanka Trump that drew widespread criticism.
Social media was abuzz with both criticism and mockery this past summer after “the Élysée Palace in France released a video clip of the first daughter trying to engage in a conversation with world leaders at the G-20 summit in Japan, including then-British Prime Minister Theresa May, Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau, International Monetary Fund head Christine Lagarde and French President Emmanuel Macron.”
“Lagarde's perplexed facial reaction to Ivanka Trump's comments, as well as Ivanka Trump's own body language, prompted memes and commentary that the first daughter appeared wildly out of place in the setting,” Politico noted.
