Fox News issued an apology Tuesday after mistakenly airing a photo of Senator Kamala Harris (D-CA) to depict a Utah murder suspect.
> While reporting on a shooting at the University of Utah that left one female student dead, Fox News informed viewers that the suspected shooter, a registered sex offender named Melvin Rowland, had already been found dead in a Salt Lake City church after being chased there by police.
> Instead of showing Rowland’s mugshot, however, they flashed a picture of Harris up on the screen, as seen in the video below.
Fox News’ Jillian Mele issued a correction and apology not long after the segment aired:
> “In an earlier version of this story, we showed you the wrong video,” she admitted. “We showed you pictures of Sen. Kamala Harris instead of Melvin Rowland’s mugshot. We apologize for that error.”
