Asked if the FBI and Justice Department are framing the president, 61 percent of Republicans said 'yes'.

A poll released Wednesday by YouGov asked Americans if they believe the FBI is trying frame President Donald Trump via the ongoing Russia investigation, according to Newsweek, and the majority of Republicans answered 'yes'.

YouGov asked U.S. adults: "Do you believe Donald Trump is being framed by the FBI and the Department of Justice?"

On the whole, 29 percent of Americans said yes, Trump is being framed by the FBI and Justice Department.

But as expected, the numbers break down quite differently between parties:

  • Among Republicans, 61 percent answered "Yes, he is being framed”; 17 percent responded that he is not being framed; and 21 percent were unsure.

  • Among Democrats, just 7 percent believe the president is being framed, while 78 percent responded no.

  • Among Independents, 25 percent said yes, the president is being framed, and 39 percent believe he is not.

The YouGov poll surveyed 1,500 U.S. adults from May 6 through May 8. It had a margin of error of plus or minus 3 percentage points.
