In October, Floridian Bruce Michael Alexander was accused of groping a woman during a flight from Texas to New Mexico.
Alexander defended his actions by invoking the 'Trump defense': Since President Donald Trump can grab women by the genitals, then I can too.
A Florida man who was arrested for groping a woman on a Southwest flight bound for New Mexico told federal agents that President Donald Trump said it's permissible to grab women by their "private parts."
Alexander was detained when the plane landed in Albuquerque. His fingers matched the description the woman gave to authorities as thick and hairy with dirty fingernails
Alexander didn't admit to touching the woman, but after he was placed in handcuffs, he said "that the President of the United States says it's ok to grab women by their private parts," the complaint said.
He was apparently referring to a 2005 video in which Trump can be heard saying: "And when you’re a star, they let you do it. You can do anything. Grab 'em by the p****."
Alexander was apparently referencing Trump's 2005 Access Hollywood tape.
In the tape, Trump says, "When you're a star...they let you do anything. Grab ’em by the pussy. You can do anything."
The tape was leaked to the press at the very end of the 2016 election.
Despite much public hand-wringing by Republicans about the tape's contents, Trump was elected to the White House with their support.
After his victory, Trump sought revenge against Republicans who had publicly condemned his behavior.
