According to France 24, a polar bear has been seen wandering just beyond the Russian city of Norilsk in search of food.
The bear, which is seems fatigued as it scavenges for food, is hundreds of miles away from its home and natural habitat.
"He is still moving around a factory, under observation by police and the emergency services, who are ensuring his safety and those of residents," environmental services official Alexander Korobkin said.
Specialists will inspect the animal, first seen on Sunday evening, on Wednesday. The specialists will then decide what to do with the polar bear.
Although polar bears are more frequently appearing in human-inhabited places due to climate change’s effect on their habitat, they are rarely seen so far from the ice.
In February, dozens of polar bears descended on a village in the northern Novaya Zemlya archipelago. A state of emergency was declared as the bears roamed the streets.
