Following what he called a 'light stroke' last summer, gospel singer and pastor Shawn Jones, relied on his faith rather than seeking immediate medical attention. On Saturday, Jones suffered a fatal collapse onstage while performing. He was 32.
According to the Christian Post, Jones told his wife and mother about the stroke, both of whom suggested he head right to the hospital. But Jones wanted to go to church that Sunday and ended up seeing a doctor three days after the incident.
"There's something about when you get in the presence of God that no matter what was wrong before you got there, when you get in the presence of the divine God He can change things," he said speaking of faith.
On Saturday, Jones collapsed fatally at The Event Center in Pensacola shortly after he began singing "Worthy Is He." Kenneth Woodson, manager of The Event Center, said Jones and his band had only been on stage for about 10-15 minutes before he collapsed and never revived on Saturday night.
