In the Mueller report, White House Press Secretary Sarah Sanders was exposed for her incompetence and lies. And yet, the Raw Story reports, Sanders continued to lie during a Fox News interview on Monday, in which she falsely accused CNN reporter April Ryan of threatening to kill her. Ryan last week spoke clearly and metaphorically that the Trump administration needed to “start lopping the heads off” after the Mueller report’s release revealed chaos and deception in Trump’s team.
“I have had reporters say a lot of things about me. They’ve said I should be choked. I should deserve a lifetime of harassment, but certainly never had anybody say I should be decapitated,” she claimed, though she failed to provide any evidence. Her discontent with what she perceived to be a death threat from Ryan contrasts a comment made by her father and former governor of Arkansas, Mike Huckabee, who said he wanted the CNN reporter “gutted like a deer.”
“It takes us to a new low, even for liberal media,” she complained. “It once again proves why this journalist isn’t taken seriously.”
While Sanders doesn’t seem to take Ryan’s journalism seriously, the rest of the country does. Ryan in 2017 won the "Journalist of the Year" award from the National Association of Black Journalists. In 2019, she earned the Freedom of the Press Award by the Reporters Committee for Freedom of the Press.
“I think our team needs to remain focused on how we keep pushing those things that actually help Americans and not engage in these petty fights with journalists that again shouldn’t be taken seriously,” Sanders continued.
