Trump recently gave a list of people who he thought were deserving of the death penalty for investigating him, accusing them of “treason.”
Now, Republican lawmakers like Liz Cheney are casually throwing around terms like “coup” and “treason” against U.S. investigators.
During a one-on-one interview with ABC News, Representative Liz Cheney (Wyoming) said this about ongoing investigations into the Trump administration:
“That, in my view, when you have people who are in the highest echelons of the law enforcement of this nation, saying things like that, that sounds an awful lot like a coup.”
“People that are at the highest level of law enforcement in this nation, saying that they are going to stop a duly elected president of the United States, saying they need an insurance policy against him, that is something that simply cannot happen. We have to have confidence in our law enforcement.”
