Of The World’s 23 Richest Countries, The U.S. Accounts For 91% Of All Gun Deaths Of Kids Under 14

It will be of little surprise to learn that the U.S. is awash in gun violence, however, some do not realize how it is often America’s youngest who are the victims.

In the United States, 19 children are killed or injured daily by gun violence. This is based on a study a study of data from 2002-2014. Boys, teenagers, and African-Americans are most at risk.

Some additional statistics on the matter:

—The yearly toll is nearly 1,300 deaths and almost 6,000 nonfatal gunshot wounds — most of them intentional

—Most deaths result from homicides and suicides, while assaults caused most of the nonfatal injuries.

—The annual death rate is nearly 2 out of 100,000 children — the rate is double for blacks — while nonfatal gunshot wounds injurealmost 8 out of 100,000 kids each year.

Congress has prohibited the Center for Disease Control from using federal money to advocate or promote gun control.
