In a Washington D.C. meeting the NRA advises One Nation to "say nothing" and "shame the whole idea."

According to the Daily Beast, National Rifle Association (NRA) officials told a far-right Australian group to shame anti-gun activists following shootings in order to win overcome public-relations issues.

Australia’s One Nation party asked the NRA for advice on how to lighten the strict gun laws in their country. The meeting between the two parties in Washington D.C. last September was secretly recorded by Al Jazeera. In the meeting, the Catherine Mortensen from the NRA advised One Nation to “say nothing” in the wake of the massacre.

Lars Dalseide, another NRA official, said that if inquiries about gun control continue, One Nation should “shame them to the whole idea.” He added, “If your policy isn’t good enough to stand on itself, how dare you use their deaths to push that forward? How dare you stand on the graves of those children to put forward your political agenda?”

One Nation defended the discussion later on very honestly. One official said: “I will be the first to admit, we’d arrived in America, we got on the sauce, we’d had a few drinks and that’s where those discussions took place.”
