Nikki Haley publicly threatened the U.N. member states who voted against the U.S. position on Jerusalem.
Nikki Haley said the following to the U.N. General Assembly following the body's symbolic vote against the U.S. recognition of Jerusalem as Israel's capital.
"The United States will remember this day in which it was singled out for attack in the General Assembly for the very act of exercising our right as a sovereign nation. We will remember it when we are called upon to once again make the world's largest contribution to the United Nations. And we will remember it when so many countries come calling on us, as they so often do, to pay even more and to use our influence for their benefit."
Israeli Prime Minister praised Nikki Haley, specifically mentioning her by name following her statement.
"Thank you, President Trump and Ambassador Haley, for standing up for Israel and standing up for the truth.
Ultimately, the truth will prevail."
The rest of the world united around the Palestinian position. Their position asserts that the final status of Jerusalem must be decided via negotiation not via a U.S. edict. Countries overwhelmingly rebuked the U.S. despite the American threat of retaliation.
...Members of the assembly overwhelmingly lined up against the two countries — and several explicitly rejected the pressure Haley and Trump had been seeking to exert on them, including Haley's threat that she'll take note of "those countries who vote against us."
