Washington Post reporter Mary Jordan writes in her new book that First Lady Melania Trump never graduated from college, despite claiming under oath that she holds a bachelor’s degree.
- Jordan, a seasoned journalist who won a Pulitzer Prize in 2003, makes the allegation in her book, “The Art of Her Deal: The Untold Story of Melania Trump.”
- According to The Washington Post, the reporter’s writing is based on “more than a hundred interviews, with everyone from Melania’s Slovenian schoolmates to former New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie.”
- Melania “attended a highly competitive architecture program at the University of Ljubljana, but did not graduate, though she claimed in sworn testimony to have a bachelor’s degree,” Jordan writes.
- In addition, The Post wrote, there is “also little evidence to suggest her claims of being able to speak four or five languages fluently are true.”
The matter of Melania’s education was raised in 2016 as her husband campaigned for the presidency.
NBC News reported at the time:
As recently as July, Melania Trump's personal site said she obtained a degree in design and architecture at an unspecified university in Slovenia, her country of birth.
It did not say when or where she completed the degree but said she was working as a model at the time and "jetting between photo shoots in Paris and Milan."
However, after media speculation over Melania’s alleged degree increased, her official bio on then-President-elect Donald Trump’s website indicated that Melania "paused her studies to advance her modeling career in Milan and Paris,” without saying whether she resumed the program or finished the degree.
