MSNBC and CNBC have called the Pennsylvania's special Congressional election for Conor Lamb.
Lamb, a moderate Democrat, has delivered an upset. In election 2016, Donald Trump won the contested district by a margin of 20 percentage points over Sec. Hillary Clinton.
Even if Lamb isn't declared the official winner, the results of this race will be interpreted as a major rebuke of the President.
With the expected win, Democrats get confidence they can compete or win in some red House regions carried by Trump in 2016. The president won the district by about 20 percentage points. Democrats have gotten confidence from a consistent lead in surveys asking voters if they would support a generic Republican or Democrat for Congress. ....
Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee Chairman Rep. Ben Ray Lujan, D-N.M., congratulated Lamb on what he called an "incredible victory." "These results should terrify Republicans. Despite their home field advantage and the millions of dollars outside groups poured into this race, Republicans found that their attacks against Conor, including their unpopular tax scam, were not believable," he said.
