Trump fundraiser Miriam Adelson wants a ‘Book of Trump’ to be added to the Bible, according to USA Today. Adelson, an Israeli-American, is married to Sheldon Adelson, a noteworthy donor for the Republican party. On July 6, Adelson’s column was published in the Las Vegas Review-Journal where she makes her case.
“Would it be too much to pray for a day when the Bible gets a ‘Book of Trump’ much like it has a “Book of Esther” celebrating the deliverance of the Jews from ancient Persia?”
Adelson argues that Trump “should enjoy sweeping support” among Jewish people in the U.S. and in Israel, and he deserves a book in the Bible for all that he has done.
Dr. Joel M. Hoffman is a Jewish Bible scholar and the author of “The Bible Doesn’t Say That.” In response to Adelson’s article, he says, “I was surprised, surprised enough to think that perhaps it had been misreported. But once I read the article I think I saw what she was trying to say, and though I disagree with her conclusion, she opens the door to interesting questions.”
He continues, “I think Mrs. Adleson believes that President Trump can save the Jews. I think she is genuinely surprised that more people don’t love the current president as much as she does.”
Hoffman also adds, “There is no way to add another book to the Jewish Bible.”
