Rep. Matt Gaetz of Florida was among five Republican congressmen to vote against a resolution in support of a peaceful transfer of power on Tuesday, according to Axios.
- Gaetz was joined by Reps. Louie Gohmert (R-TX), Steve King (R-IA), Thomas Massie (R-KY) and Clay Higgins (R-LA) in voting against the measure.
- The resolution, authored by Rep. Eric Swalwell (D-CA), came “after President Trump last week refused to commit to it if he loses the election to Joe Biden,” the outlet reported.
- Axios noted that a similar resolution passed unanimously in the Senate last week.
- Gaetz said of the measure: "This resolution is a way for Democrats to attack the president and disguise the fact that they will refuse to accept the election results unless they win.”
