OK -- a couple of white guys roaming around downtown Chicago with a noose and a chemical (also identified elsewhere as bleach) and they just happen to come across a celebrity to assault. Not unbelievable, though it begins to stretch credulity because their victim was a celebrity. He was recognized, stalked and victimized. I would think solving the crime should be easier than if it was a random attack. I hate when events are so brutal they start to sound like a TV horror script.
