Lindsey Graham Comes Out Against Giving Money Directly To Americans

William James

Senator Lindsey Graham (R-SC) has come out against giving money directly to Americans.

Senator Lindsey Graham (R-SC) has come out against giving money directly to Americans. He said U.S. companies, not the U.S. government should pay Americans. Graham seems to have trouble grasping the nature of self-quarantines and social-distancing.

Whether they want to or not, many Americans cannot go to work due to a viral pandemic.

"My focus is not giving people a check from the government. My focus is to make sure you get your paycheck from your employer."

Well as a American we didn't ask for this to come our way and if our government wants to help it's people, then he shouldn't be against it

And, if these companies are shut down and not making money, where are they supposed to get the money? Maybe we should start taxing those rich people that got all those tax cuts 3 years ago.

Hey, Human Resources, Lindsay Graham needs a lot of help from "Employee Assistance". Please send him home until he brings his character, his feelings, his values, his behavior, and his choices into alignment! He is dangerous to himself and others...

Lindsey Graham, Rand Paul and Ron Johnson all need to HUSH. Giving billions (trillions?) to these corporations is never going to "trickle down" to any of us. REGULAR FOLKS stimulate the economy, not corporations

One might even say repugliKKKlan's see the effects of the virus as a means of shifting more wealth from labor to investors.

When you take your head out of the sand you'll realize that this disaster is the result of trump incompetently attacking Iran with a weaponized virus that got out of control.

Trump and the other Russian agents in our government are just upset that the weren't quick enough to short the market

The US airline industry has made more than $60 billion in profits over the last 3 years. What did they do with that cash? Why don't stockholders pony up their dividends and profits over the last 3 years to support the industry. Almost all airlines hold some of their own stock. Sell that first or put together a public offer and issue new stock to get cash.

All these businesses are going to use any bailout to pay executive saleries and bonuses that will exceed what trickles through to employees by orders of magnitude.

No $$ for corporations. Give $$ to labor. They will spend it on living...not whores and politicians

WARNING!!! This post contains an abundance of honesty!

The "new" post-pandemic economy will be vastly different. It will or should likely be even more "digitally" focused... tele-health, online learning, gig and freelance contracts, etc.

AND we are ALL going to be in it together...
WHETHER YOU WANT TO OR NOT!

It will also become even more precarious for employees as multi-national corporations AND LOCAL business attempt to adjust to a protracted recessionary global consumption-driven marketplace.

Government response is, and will continue to be, tax cuts, increased subsidies, interest free loans and outright bailouts to corporate interests in many of not all the "affected" industries and businesses.

They, the government (off all stripes, flavors and persuasions) will claim that they "have to" to this out of necessity... in order to "protect and make whole" the JOB CREATORS".

This is at best either, fundamentally flawed... or at worst, intentional bullshite!

Businesses DO NOT "create" jobs!

What creates jobs is "demand" for products and services... the demand that comes from CUSTOMERS; those people who are ready, willing AND ABLE to pay for those goods and services... which providers WILL supply.

It is also a widely accepted belief/justification that businesses pay taxes..

This is so deeply flawed that I'll not only say it again: businesses DO NOT pay taxes... but i will prove it!
!
Taxes are simply one more business input cost... and the very nature of "business" DEMANDS that ALL business input COSTS are PASSED ON TO CONSUMERS!

Just like the cost for materials, advertising, transportation, wages, etc... taxes, all of them, be it employment, income, sales or other tax, fee, or charge... ALL go into the make-up of the price a business charges to their customer... as well as (almost) always a "healthy" profit component... for EVERY SINGLE product or service.

At best, businesses could more accurately be described as tax "collectors" or facilitators. Even the federal AND provincial governments recognize, but rarely acknowledge, this primary function of business: why else are/were business actually being paid to collect things like PST/GST in the form of a percentage discount of amounts of tax collected?

Business has another massive advantage... they get to deduct ALL their costs (of operations) before they even begin to calculate any tax that might be owing... it is why high revenue, massive corporations, like Amazon, Apple, Bombardier, Irving, etc can have millions or even billions of dollars of sales revenue from a multitude of soutrces... and pay little to no actual "income" tax.

On the other hand, ordinary, everyday employees... including of those very same companies, are left to pay their own necessary "operational cost" out of what is left of their,
many times minimum wage paychecks...

but ONLY AFTER ALL those various taxes are collected, and held, by those same businesses... IN ADVANCE!

There is a much better way... and the best time to embrace the coming transition to what WILL BE THE NEW REALITY is right now!

Would you be willing...
to prepare for it, rather than
simply react to having it
inposed on you?

Share if you care, please.

Why give $ to people who will spend it on consumer goods like high end kicks, bling...food and medicine. We are already experiencing shortages. Giving $$ to labor will exacerbate those shortages and drive prices up for the rich. This isea is so stupid i can only compare it to the stupidity of testing for Americans without health insurance. Who cares if they have it if they cant afford treatment. The best course is keep National Parks open so workers have someplace to go and quietly die where they won't bother the rich.

I expect there will be some hater pointing out that if we had universal health care and a functioning executive organisation designed to deal with pandemics we would suffer less but they forget that the $$ that paid for protecting us was presciently diverted to building a wall that no virus can hope to defeat.

This is either great satire or an amazing display of ignorance... Either way, well done!

He wants to give money to the doctors and other health care workers. Unfortunately, those folks are already well-paid and have no need for more money.
It's laid off workers who will be harmed, folks who have no savings and will suffer from this wrong-headed and evil administration.
