Lev Parnas: 'Barr Was On The Team', Working With Giuliani, Trump, Pompeo

Lev Parnas appeared to confirm the whistleblower's claim that Attorney General Barr was involved in the Ukraine scandal.

In his interview with MSNBC’s Rachel Maddow on Wednesday, Lev Parnas — the indicted Soviet-born associate of President Trump’s personal attorney, Rudy Giuliani — said Attorney General William Barr “was basically on the team” of individuals seeking an investigation into Joe Biden.

Parnas’ statements seem to validate the whistleblower complaint filed last year claiming that Barr appeared to be involved with the Ukraine scandal, despite the whistleblower’s inability to describe to what extent the attorney general was involved.

Asked if he had any contact with Barr, Parnas said, “I personally did not speak to him, but I was involved in lots of conversations that Joe diGenova had with him in front of me, Rudy had with him in front of me…”

Parnas also said he was aware that Giuliani and Barr had discussed the investigations Ukraine was being pressured to announce, ostensibly in order to receive held up military aid from the U.S.

“Mr. Barr had to have known everything,” Parnas said. He added that not only was he aware of Giuliani’s communications with Barr regarding the desired Biden investigation but also that of others working toward the same end, including Washington, D.C., attorneys Victoria Toensing and Joe diGenova.

“They were all best friends,” Parnas said. “Attorney General Barr was basically on the team.”

The whistleblower complaint also mentioned Barr with regard to the Ukraine scandal, saying of alleged quid pro quo: “Attorney General Barr appears to be involved as well.”

Later, in a footnote, the whistleblower added, “I do not know the extent to which, if at all, Mr. Giuliani is directly coordinating his efforts in Ukraine with Attorney General Barr or [John Durham, who was investigating the “origins” of the Russia probe].”

Trump himself mentioned Barr during his infamous July 25 phone call with Ukranian President Volodymyr Zelensky, saying — according to the White House’s own transcript of the call — “I would like to have the Attorney General call you or your people….”

Parnas’ statements during his interview this week appear to confirm the whistleblower’s claim.

Maddow said on Wednesday that Justice Department spokesperson Kerri Kupec offered an incredibly brief response to Parnas’ claims, saying, “100 percent false.”
