Kellyanne Conway Refuses To Deny Veracity Of Buzzfeed Story

“The President weighed in on this on Twitter this morning, so I’ll refer you to that,” Kellyanne Conway said on Friday.

Trump administration officials appear unwilling to outright deny the accuracy of a recent Buzzfeed News report claiming President Donald Trump directed his former attorney, Michael Cohen, to commit perjury during his congressional testimony.

White House counselor Kellyanne Conway became another such official on Friday when she deferred to the president’s tweet on the matter rather than offer an definitive answer.

While appearing on Fox Business, Conway was asked about the bombshell report from BuzzFeed that claimed Cohen had lied to Congress about the Trump Tower Moscow project at Trump’s behest.

“The President weighed in on this on Twitter this morning, so I’ll refer you to that,” Conway said in response to a question about the report.

So far, not one administration official, including the president, has offered a firm denial of the report.

Deputy White House press secretary Hogan Gidley similarly talked around questions regarding the issue rather than giving a straight denial of the story.
