Karl Rove said Thursday on Fox News that Christine Blasey Ford was “an emotional and credible witness” and predicted the allegations against Supreme Court nominee Brett Kavanaugh — whether he is confirmed or not — would benefit the Democrats in the November midterms.
> Of Dr. Ford, Rove would only allow that she was “an emotional and credible witness.” Of “designated questioner” Rachel Mitchell, Rove could barely muster that “she kept the Republicans out of trouble by not having ten men line up to confront this woman claiming to be the victim of a horrific sexual abuse. But on the other hand, she did not put Dr. Ford in much difficulty herself until the very end.”
Rove took issue with Democrats on the Senate Judiciary Committee for their handling of the matter, saying they would likely use the hearing as a campaign issue:
> “The Democrats want this as a talking point,” he charged. “This thing has become a Democrat cause célèbre. It helps them with the electorate, it keeps the focus on something they want. And if they succeed in delaying it, so much the better, but even if they don’t, they occupy valuable space in the weeks leading to the midterm election.”
