President Donald Trump’s Justice Department reportedly sent an email to the nation’s immigration court employees on Thursday that contained a link to an anti-Semitic blog post, according to NBC News.
Along with news stories regarding immigration, there was a link to the white nationalist website VDare, Buzzfeed News first reported. NBC News said it had not obtained the email.
In response, the immigration judges' union wrote a letter of complaint to the Justice Department, noting that the blog post linked in the email “directly attacks sitting immigration judges with racial and ethnically tinged slurs.”
“Publication and dissemination of a white supremacist, anti-Semitic website throughout the EOIR is antithetical to the goals and ideals of the Department of Justice,” the letter said.
According to the DOJ, the link was included by accident. EOIR assistant press secretary Kathryn Mattingly told NBC in a statement:
“The daily EOIR morning news briefings are compiled by a contractor and the blog post should not have been included. The Department of Justice condemns Anti-Semitism in the strongest terms.”
