‘Family Values’ Republican Joe Barton (R-TX) will not seek re-election following a nude photo scandal.

According to Dallas News, Rep. Joe Barton (R-TX) has said he will not seek reelection, after sexual photos he shared during an extramarital affair were made public, putting him into the national spotlight.

The Ennis Republican announced his retirement in an interview with The Dallas Morning News on Thursday, three weeks after saying he would seek an 18th term.

Barton publicly apologized for what he described as consensual sexual relationships with multiple women while married to his former wife. That marriage — Barton’s second, and one he described as "rocky" — ended in 2015.

The Texas lawmaker admitted last week to being the man in a photo making its rounds across social media.

The photo showed him nude, with genitals obscured, apparently a screen shot from a video of him masturbating. He later acknowledged he’d sent it to a woman with whom he’d had sexual encounters.

Engaged for a third time, Barton says his days of sexting are over:

"These activities, as unsavory as they may be, were from the past, not the present, and I'm never going to do them again," he said.
