Televangelist Jim Bakker recently suffered a stroke and had to take a break from his show to recover, his wife confirmed on Friday, according to Charlotte Observer.
The 80-year-old pastor currently hosts “The Jim Bakker Show” with his wife. In late 1980s, he went to federal prison for fraud related to his previous show, The Jim and Tammy Show, or the PTL Club, which suffered sexual and financial scandals and ended afterwards.
Lori Bakker posted on “The Jim Bakker Show” Facebook page and said, “We are thankful that Jim is okay, and that he is now at home with our family.”
“Under the guidance of medical professionals and our Board of Directors, Jim will be taking a sabbatical from the show,” Lori Bakker added. “Jim will be back! He is still dreaming and hearing from the Lord, and he already has a powerful word to deliver when he returns to the air.”
Bakker’s show raised controversy when a guest sold a product in the show, named Silver Solution, on his show, which was said to “eliminate (coronavirus strains) within 12 hours.”
Bakker’s wife addressed the public criticism in her Facebook statement, and said, “As a family and staff, we continue to fight the good fight of faith and take a stand against the evil forces and hatred that has come against our ministry. In Jim’s words, this has been the most vicious attack that he has ever experienced.”
