Experts believe Russia is still meddling in U.S. politics, presently trying to turn the public against Mueller's probe.

According to Newsweek, and at the height of irony, Russian officials have made multiple attempts to receive a promise from the Trump administration that the United States will not interfere in its upcoming presidential election. To date, Trump has not granted the request.

“We have repeatedly offered Washington a formal way to ensure non-interference in each other’s internal affairs,” [spokesperson for the Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs Maria] Zakharova said. “We believe that the rejection of our proposals clearly confirms the absolute falsehood of accusations of Russian interference in the American elections.”

Russia has repeatedly denied meddling in the 2016 U.S. presidential election, but experts believe the country is continuing its effort to influence American politics:

The latest push involves trying to turn public opinion against the integrity of the investigation being run by Robert Mueller into potential collusion between the Trump campaign and Russia.
