IOWA’S STEVE KING: LET’S ELIMINATE FOOD STAMPS AND PLANNED PARENTHOOD TO FUND BORDER WALL

In an interview with the Washington Examiner, Iowa Congressman Steve King called for shifting funding from Planned Parenthood and the food stamp program to border wall construction.

I would find half of a billion dollars of that right out of Planned Parenthood’s budget,” he said. “And the rest of it could come out of food stamps and the entitlements that are being spread out for people that haven’t worked in three generations.” He continued, “We’ve got to put America back to work, this administration will do it.”

The Iowa Congressman expressed concern that the food stamp program was leading to obesity, “Now we have a problem of obesity. And when you match up the [Electronics Benefits Transfer] card with what the scales say on some of the folks, I think it’s worth looking at. [Former first lady] Michelle Obama looked at it, Republicans should be able to look at it too, ” the Congressman said.

Mr. King is known for making wildly outlandish, inflammatory statements and crudely racist statements.

While speaking to Chris Hayes, the Congressman claimed that civilization arose solely due to the works of White people. He later tried to claim that he meant “Western civilization”. His career is littered with flagrant appeals to White Nationalism and Ethno-chauvinism.

The Congressman keeps a Confederate flag on his desk even though Iowa was a member of the Union.

In 2005, the Congressman came out against naming a post office after a California civil rights icon.

Last year, Steve King attempted to block Harriet Tubman from appearing on the twenty dollar bill.
