In a clip circulating on Twitter, the South Carolina Senator Lindsey Graham of 2015 directly refutes statements by the 2019 version of the Republican lawmaker.
After the president made racist comments regarding congresswomen of color this week, Graham told reporters, “If you think [Donald Trump] is a racist, that’s up to you. I don’t.”
But 2015 Graham shows up a moment later in the clip with words that belie his current comment.
Speaking on CNN a few years ago, Graham said Trump is a “race-baiting, xenophobic, religious bigot.”
In another appearance prior to Trump’s election, Graham said the then-candidate was “a kook”, “crazy”, and “unfit for office.”
As for current Graham?
He’s concerned about the American press’ “endless attempt to label [Trump] as some kind of kook not fit to be president.”
