IN OP-ED, SALLY YATES CALLS TRUMP’S ACTIONS “BEYOND ABNORMAL” AND “DANGEROUS”

Sally Yates, the former Deputy Attorney General of the Obama Administration, issued a warning in the New York Times that President Donald Trump is destroying the rule of law in this country.

Mrs. Yates, no stranger to the President’s wrath, was fired after she warned his administration that former national security adviser Michael Flynn was compromised by the Russians.

“President Trump’s actions appear aimed at destroying the fundamental independence of the Justice Department. All the while, he’s ripping the blindfold off Lady Justice and attempting to turn the department into a sword to seek vengeance against his perceived enemies and a shield to protect himself and his allies.
It’s almost impossible to take all of this in. And while we risk becoming numb to the daily barrage of alarming news, we can’t lose sight of the fact that this is beyond abnormal. It’s dangerous.”

Using adjectives like “dangerous”, “abnormal”, she almost begs for Republican lawmakers to take a stand against an increasingly authoritarian and out-of-touch President. So far, Republicans have not broadly condemnedthe President’s continued barrage against the rule of law.
