In Battleground States, Support For Trump’s Removal Is Higher Than His Approval
New polling from CNN and Monmouth University shows that there is more support for removing President Trump from office than there is support for his administration, according to The Washington Post.
In what may seem alarming to the Trump reelection campaign, this holds true in battleground states and in swing counties where the 2016 margin was 10 points or smaller.
The Senate impeachment trial is set to begin Tuesday on the allegations that Trump abused the power of his office and obstructed Congress. Trump alleges that the impeachment effort is simply an attempt to throw out the results of the 2016 election.
The impeachment has so far been a divisive partisan split, as polling from CNN and Monmouth suggest. While Democrats hoped the evidence that emerged would shift public views on the issue, it largely has not happened.
