President Donald Trump is a better commander-in-chief than Abraham Lincoln, according to a majority of Republican voters.
The Washington Times reported that a new poll conducted by The Economist and YouGov found that 53 percent of Republicans chose Trump as the better president, while 47 percent picked Lincoln.
On the whole, about three-quarters of the 1,500 voters surveyed said Lincoln was superior to Trump.
Given the opportunity to rank Republican presidents, almost “one-third of Republicans surveyed – 32% – ranked Mr. Trump as the best, compared to 29% who picked Lincoln and 27% who chose former president Ronald Reagan.”
Reagan still has a hold on the Republican Party, however: “Asked to decide which president was better, Trump or Reagan, 41% of Republicans surveyed picked the current officeholder. The majority – 59% – answered Reagan.”
