In 2016, Lindsey Graham Said Joe Biden Was "As Good A Man As God Ever Created"
The Senator Lindsey Graham who recently launched an investigation into the Biden family is certainly not the same Senator Lindsey Graham who got choked up while former Vice President Joe Biden in 2016.
According to Newsweek, video has resurfaced of the South Carolina Republican speaking fondly of Biden during an interview with HuffPost. In the video, Graham says, "If you can't admire Joe Biden as a person there's probably—you got a problem and you need to do some self-evaluation because what's not to like?"
Lindsey Graham’s (fake) Conscience on Twitter
“Today I began an investigation into the Bidens. Did the Biden's do anything wrong? NO. Am I doing this to make @realDonaldTrump look innocent? YES. WHATEVER YOU DO, DO NOT WATCH THE VIDEO BELOW!! IT WILL MAKE ME LOOK LIKE A MONSTER... https://t.co/ZBEe80o4zZ”
He went on to discuss the death of Biden’s son, Beau Biden, saying, "I called him after Beau died and he basically said, well, Beau was my soul. We talked for a long time.”
"He came to my ceremony and said some of the most incredibly heartfelt things that anybody could ever say to me. And he's the nicest person I think I've ever met in politics. He is as good a man as God ever created,” Graham continued.
"I think he's been dealt a really gut blow. I think he focuses on what he's got to do not what he lost. His heart's been ripped out but he's going to make sure that the other members of his family's well taken care of and he started talking about his grandkids, more worried about them than anything."
But now that Graham has placed himself firmly on the side of President Donald Trump, his admiration for Biden has subsided.
On Thursday, Graham — who chairs the Senate Judiciary Committee — sent a letter to Secretary of State Mike Pompeo requesting documents related to the former vice president, his son Hunter, and other officials from the Obama administration. He also asked for documents related to former Ukraine President Petro Poroshenko, Newsweek reported.
Graham indicated he is investigating potential wrongdoing by the eldest Biden in his efforts to have a top Ukrainian prosecutor removed during his time in the White House. Republicans have been pushing the theory that Biden’s actions were intended to protect his son, who sat on the board of the Ukrainian gas company Burisma at the time.
