Marv Hagedorn said the offending tweet was meant to encourage victims of sexual assault to come forward sooner.

The head of Idaho’s agency serving the state’s veterans must attend mandatory training after making a post to social media demeaning sexual assault survivors, according to The Associated Press.

> State officials on Tuesday said Idaho Division of Veterans Services Administrator Marv Hagedorn must complete two training sessions through the Idaho Division of Human Resources before Nov. 1.

> Hagedorn on Twitter on Friday made a post he later described as a joke about two nurses coming forward to report Supreme Court nominee Brett Kavanaugh flashed them as a newborn and attempted to urinate on them.

Hagedorn later apologized for the post in another tweet, saying his intention had been to encourage victims of sexual trauma to come forward sooner.
