Huckabee: Trump Eligible To Seek Third Term In 2024

It was initially unclear whether former Gov. Mike Huckabee was serious or joking about Trump serving a third term.

Former Arkansas Governor Mike Huckabee tweeted on Thursday that he would discuss why President Donald Trump is eligible for a third term on Fox News later that night, leaving social media users to wonder whether he was joking, according to The Independent.

Huckabee, the father of Trump’s former press secretary Sarah Huckabee Sanders, wrote in the tweet: "Greatly honored to be asked to chair @realDonaldTrump re-election campaign for @potus in 2024. Gives me lots of time to plan!"

Later, he followed up with another post, reading: "I'll be on @seanhannity 2nite @FoxNews at 9pm ET and will explain how @realDonaldTrump will be eligible for a 3rd term due to the illegal attempts by Comey, Dems, and media, et al attempting to oust him as @potus so that's why I was named to head up the 2024 re-election."

Trump obviously is not eligible for a third term, though the president himself has joked about the possibility numerous times, saying as recently as this week during a rally that perhaps he would still be in office as many as 29 years from now.

"The disastrous IG Report on James Comey shows, in the strongest of terms, how unfairly I, and tens of millions of great people who support me, were treated," Trump tweeted over the summer. "Our rights and liberties were illegally stripped away by this dishonest fool. We should be given our stolen time back?"
