HOUSE CANCELS TODAY’S HEARING ON BILL THAT WILL MAKE IT EASIER TO PURCHASE SILENCERS

In the aftermath of today’s shooting, House Republicans have canceled a hearing on a bill that will make it easier to purchase gun silencers.

The proposed silencer law is part of a broader law called the SHARE Act. The Share Act contains other hunting and recreational shooting related measures as well.

Representative Jeff Duncan (R-SC) included the silencer provision as part of this broader bill.

Congressman Duncan was practicing baseball this morning with Republican colleagues when a shooter named James Hodgkinson III fired at them.

Just prior to the shooting, Mr. Hodgkinson allegedly asked Congressman Ron DeSantis (R-FL) if the baseball players were Democrats or Republicans. The shooting was stopped by the security detail of Majority Whip Steve Scalise (R-LA). The gunman was injured at the scene and later died at a hospital.
