Lichtman said that Trump will lose the 2020 election due to multiple “keys.”

Allan Lichtman, a professor of history at American University, who had predicted President Donald Trump’s upset win in 2016, now says that Trump will lose in the 2020 election, according to RawStory.

  • During an interview with The New York Times, Lichtman said that because of multiple “keys” that could predict results of presidential elections, including “the fact that Trump’s party lost the House of Representatives in 2018, the economy has entered into a recession, and the considerable social unrest over the past three months,” Trump will lose in 2020.
  • Lichtman pointed out that Trump does have some advantages, including “the avoidance of major foreign policy disasters and having an opponent who is not particularly charismatic,” but those are not enough to have Trump win the election.

“The keys predict that Trump will lose the White House,” said Lichtman.
