Here Is A Round-Up Of All The Pastors Recently Arrested For Exploiting Children

In the months of March and April alone, more than 10 pastors and priests were arrested for exploiting minors.

On March 11, former Bradenton church youth pastor Jerred Peacock was arrested when police found him in a hotel room with a girl he had been court-ordered to stay away from due to an ongoing sexual assault case. He was originally arrested in October 2018 for sexually assaulting the then-17 year old girl, but was released on bond. Peacock resigned from the church before the allegations against him became public.


In April, youth pastor David Kimball was arrested on child porn charges. Kimball, who is a father, watched child porn showing girls between four and fifteen years old. Kimball resigned from the church after his arrest.


Baldwin pastor Edgar Martinez was arrested on April 10 on suspicion of lewd and lascivious acts with a minor, sending sexually explicit material to a minor, and sexual assault. The minor in question is a 15-year-old girl. Police are now looking for additional victims.


Freedom Church of San Antonio pastor Kevin Garcia was arrested in April after allegations of sexual assault of a minor. The 15 year old girl said Garcia sexually abused her for several years- ever since she was in the seventh grade. Garcia posted his $75,000 bail and was released from jail.


Former youth pastor Dustin Herrera faces 15 charges of child molestation during church sleepovers, camping trips, and car rides. He was first investigated in 2004 when two juveniles said Herrera touched them inappropriately. 15 years after the initial allegations, he was arrested.


Three pastors, Deborah Ann Graham, Edward Gandy, and Tonya Hill were arrested in Mesquite after police were notified on March 20 that a child had been bound and assaulted at The Church- A Place of Worship for All Nations. The three pastors are charged with unlawful restraint and engaging in organized criminal activity by committing an assault causing bodily injuries.


In March, Former St. Landry Parish priest plead guilty to molesting a minor. The victim said that when he was 16 years old, he was given alcohol and then sexually assaulted by Michael Guidry at Guidry’s home. The former priest was sentenced to seven years of hard labor and three years of probation.


A Catholic Priest was arrested in March for 30 counts of child sexual assault. Hector David Vela, who is also known as David Mendoza-Vela, “confessed to inappropriately touching” a minor’s genitals over his pants “at least 20 times,” according to prosecutors. He was arrested after authorities recorded him on the phone apologizing to the victim for touching his genitals, beginning when he was 14 years old.


Former Catholic priest in the Diocese of Metuchen, Thomas P. Ganley, faces four years in prison after he plead guilty to sexually assaulting a teenage girl in the early 1990s. Ganley admitted to oral and vaginal penetration with a girl who was either 16 or 17 years old while he was the head of the youth ministry at the church.


In April, a priest at the Diocese of Fresno, Monsignor Craig Francis Harrison, was accused of touching a 16 or 17 year old boy three separate times while the victim was an alter boy at St. Joseph Church. Harrison is on administrative leave pending his investigation.
