Gov’t Shutdown: Trump Won’t Sign Spending Bill Without Money For Border Wall

President Trump is refusing to sign the spending bill, risking a partial government shutdown if unsigned by Friday.

On Thursday, President Trump claimed that he would not sign the Senate spending bill because it does not include money to fund the wall against the Mexican border.

This decision was made in the face of a deadline to fund the government by Friday at midnight to avoid a partial government shutdown, according to the Boston Globe.

‘‘The president said he will not sign this bill,’’ House Speaker Paul Ryan said exiting a hastily called meeting with Trump and other GOP lawmakers at the White House.

The White House suggested earlier Thursday that Trump was not onboard with the critical spending agreement because it lacked billions of dollars for ‘‘steel slats or a wall’’ at the Mexican border.
