GOP Tax Bill Will Kill Thousands of Americans Annually

Vox's Sarah Kliff notes there is little difference between results of the Senate's tax bill and the GOP 'skinny repeal.'

As Republicans in the House and Senate prepare to flesh out the details of tax reform, one provision in the Senate's bill noticeably missing from its counterpart in the House is a repeal of the Affordable Care Act's individual mandate.

According to House Ways and Means Committee Chairman Rep. Kevin Brady (R-TX), the final iteration of the bill will most likely include the repeal, which will have devastating effects for millions of Americans.

The CBO estimates these provisions will result in 13 million fewer people receiving insurance by 2027 and likely premium hikes for everyone else. Vox estimates that the bill’s health provisions could lead to an increase of more than 15,000 preventable deaths per year.
