GOP Senator Offers Fidget Spinners To Help Colleagues With Impeachment Boredom

Sen. Richard Burr handed out fidget spinners and other gadgets during Republicans' weekly lunch on Thursday.

Senator Richard Burr (R-NC) reportedly is handing out fidget spinners and other gadgets to his fellow Republican lawmakers to help stave off boredom during President Donald Trump’s impeachment trial, according to Roll Call.

The boredom is real for many senators, the publication noted: “Dozens at a time have been spotted standing behind their desks, pacing in the chamber and even doing quad and neck stretches.”

Burr, who chairs the Senate Intelligence Committee, gave out the gizmos during Republicans’ weekly lunch on Thursday — a favorite event for the lawmakers that is hosted by a different senator each week.

Roll Call noted that Burr served up a “Carolina Cookout” this week, with a menu that included “Hamburgers, hot dogs, baked beans, coleslaw, sweet potato fries, mixed green salad and potato salad,” with the finishing touch of ice cream sundaes.

And of course, the fidget spinners.
