GOP lawmakers are very upset that Congresswoman Ocasio-Cortez (D-NY), called detainment centers 'concentration camps'.

Republican lawmakers are very upset that Congresswoman Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-NY), called U.S. detainment centers used for migrants ‘concentration camps’, according to Esquire Magazine.

“The U.S. is running concentration camps on our southern border, and that is exactly what they are. The fact that concentration camps are now an institutionalized practice in the home of the free is extraordinarily disturbing, and we need to do something about it,” said the New York Representative on social media.

Immigrants are being brutalized with dehumanizing conditions and dying at detention centers, Cortez added.

According to the Merriam-Webster dictionary, a concentration camp is defined as:

a place where large numbers of people (such as prisoners of war, political prisoners, refugees, or the members of an ethnic or religious minority) are detained or confined under armed guard —used especially in reference to camps created by the Nazis in World War II for the internment and persecution of Jews and other prisoners

On Tuesday, House Republican Caucus Chairwoman Liz Cheney said AOC’s remarks showed a disrespect for history and disregard what happened during the Holocaust.

The lawmaker encouraged Democrats to join in her condemnation of Cortez. "I'm waiting for her fellow freshmen, I'm waiting for the leaders of her party to stand up and say they disagree because certainly, they ought to disagree. It was a shameful set of remarks," she added on The Story.

“Please @AOC do us all a favor and spend just a few minutes learning some actual history,” The Wyoming politician Tweeted that same day.

Cortez issued an answer minutes after Cheney’s Twitter remarks, saying "Hey Rep. Cheney, since you’re so eager to ‘educate me,’ I’m curious: What do YOU call building mass camps of people being detained without a trial? How would you dress up DHS’s mass separation of thousands of children at the border from their parents?”

#AOC is correct and anyone thinking otherwise is part of the problem, not part of the solution.
