GOP Chairwoman At CPAC: Democrats Want Americans To Survive On Dog Food

Ronna McDaniel spent part of her talk at CPAC warning Republicans that Democrats would have them eating dog food.

Jumping on the bandwagon of fearmongering over socialism, Republican National Committee Chairwoman Ronna McDaniel said at the Conservative Political Action Conference on Thursday that Democrats will take America down the path of Venezuela, leaving U.S. citizens to sustain themselves with dog food.

“[Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez], we can’t take her for granted,” McDaniel said. “We can’t think that the American people understand what socialism is.”

They must be educated, she said, on the dangers of becoming a socialist nation — a goal not even on the radar of AOC and other self-described Democratic Socialists.

But the right’s favorite example of socialism — poverty-stricken Venezuela — was McDaniel’s go-to warning of the dangers of universal healthcare and free college tuition.

“Ninety percent of the people right now” in Venezuela “are living beneath poverty,” she said. “They don’t have groceries in their grocery stores” and “people are eating dog food to survive,” she warned.

“That is the path that Democrats are taking us down by promising everything: free healthcare, free education — what that will do is bankrupt our country” and turn the U.S. into a “socialist nation.”

In the end, it’s all just a power grab, McDaniel said. House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer, Ocasio-Cortez and other Democrats simply want full control over the American people, she warned.

And that’s not all. Democrats also “try and shame us for being Republican,” McDaniel lamented.
