GOP House candidate James Bradley shared in a YouTube show his belief that the 2018 Camp Fires in California were the result of “ray beams,” according to Media Matters.

  • The GOP candidate, who the California Republican Party said they are “proud to endorse” in his campaign against Democratic Rep. Ted Lieu in California’s 33rd Congressional district, shared his support for the conspiracy theory that the deadly 2018 fire was the result of planned laser beams.
  • During his appearance on the online program Steel Truth with host Amy Vandersteel, a QAnon believer, he was asked his thoughts about the natural disaster. Bradley stated:

“There's a lot of suspicion, and I think there's a lot of truth to this, that they had a lot of the -- as you -- when you put in the new homes you have the meters that go in there -- these meters were set off by some, a ... ray beam that blew up these meters in the start of the Paradise fire, which took so many lives.”

  • He went on to add:

“So is it planned? I don't want to go down that rabbit hole, but I can tell you there's a lot of questions that need to be answered now.”
