Giuliani’s Associates Met With Benjamin Netanyahu’s Son, Received Award
The two Soviet-born businessmen arrested this week on campaign finance charges were part of a delegation that met with U.S. Ambassador David Friedman in Israel last year, according to Haaretz.
Lev Parnas and Igor Fruman were photographed with Friedman at the event, as well as Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s son, Yair.
The event, where Parnas and Fruman were recognized by Young Israel, was held at “home of billionaire Simon Falic, one of the Israeli premier’s most important donors,” the publication noted. Falic also donates to right-wing causes in Israel.
Haaretz said it is unclear why the group recognized the two men but noted that “one explanation offered by a senior figure in the organization was that the pair ‘brought Rudy Giuliani’ to the dinner.”
Giuliani, the personal attorney of President Donald Trump, reportedly received help from Parnas and Fruman with contacting Ukrainian officials as he pressured Ukraine’s government to investigate former Vice President Joe Biden and his son.
Also receiving an award at the event was House Minority Leader Kevin McCarthy (R-CA), who consequently was one of the Republicans to whom Parnas and Fruman made campaign contributions.
