The United States and Germany might be close allies, but Germans have lost significant trust in the U.S. since President Donald Trump took office, with a recent survey showing that Germans see Trump as more dangerous than North Korean dictator Kim Jong Un or Russia’s Vladimir Putin.
According to The Hill, a new YouGov poll found that between Trump, Kim, Putin, Iranian Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei and Chinese President Xi Jinping, Germans singled out the American president as the greatest threat to world peace.
Forty-one percent of respondents named Trump as number one, “compared to Kim at 17 percent, Khamenei and Putin at 8 percent and Xi at 7 percent.”
In a separate poll, conducted by the Kantar institute for the Funke media group, Germans ranked Trump as the least trustworthy world leader, with 89 percent saying they have very little trust in the U.S. president.
